Founded by Stanislao Cobianchi in 1885, Montnegro Amaro was originally named Elisir Lungavita, Cobianchi later renamed the liqueur after the marriage of Princess Elena of Montenegro to Prince Vittorio Emanuele III.
Montenegro Amaro is crafted from over 40 different botanicals that are sourced from 4 different continents, Montenegro Amaro is the world drink, reflecting flavors from around the world.
The herbs and spices undergo 3 forms of extraction; boiling, maceration and distillation. After which, six specific tasting notes are blended to create the base of this Amaro. Once they have been married the final ingredient, " Il Premio" or the prize is added. We're not quite sure what is in Il Premio, but we know that it's so intense only a single drop is added to the recipe.
Finally, this concoction is add to the alcohol to infuse into the signature taste that is Montenegro Amaro.
