Generally consumed as an aperitivo, before dinner to kick up the appetite or as a digestivo, afterwards Averna Amaro is an herbal liqueur. First made in Sicily by the Averna family in 1868, the recipe was gifted to them by Benedictine monk Fr. Girolamo. Since then, descendants of the brand founder, Salvatore Averna have passed the recipe down through the generations and grown the brand to international fame.
