With Mediterranean like climates, and sunny days leading to cool nights the grapes are allowed to mature for a longer period of time and yields a crop that is able to reach optimal ripeness.
During fermentation, the skins soak to give the wine its silky tannins and rich color. Afterwards, the wine aged in oak for almost a year for heightened richness and complexity.
