There in the Tuscan hillsides, over 200 local winegrowers have joined together to form Cantine Leonardo da Vinci - an innovative growers' cooperative committed to producing authentic Tuscan wine.
It's there in the hillside of Vinci that DaVinci Chianti is made. Comprised of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot grapes this wine is made the old fashion way. The grapes are gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks with temperatures controlled between 70°F and 80°F. The wine is then fermented for 8 days and then about 15% of the wine is barrel aged for 6 months in new and used American oak barrels to add some complexity.
Well-balanced with medium-bodied, DaVinci Chianti is full of dark fruit with a soft mineral finish and round tannins that linger for a long peppery finish.
Notes: Dry, medium-bodied. Aromas and flavors of plum, cassis, pepper and cherry
Pairings: Rabbit stew, lasagna, portobello mushrooms
Serving Suggestions: Room temperature or slightly chilled
Region: Italy
Alcohol Content: 13%
