Opus One was founded in 1984, as a joint venture between Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi (the equivalent of a Biggie and Tupac collaboration). An international success Opus One wines are considered to be among the creme de la creme Bordeaux-style wines.

The duality of both winemakers was and is unified by a singular concept; the pursuit of uncompromising quality. Comprised of four parcels, Opus One vineyards, sit in the western portion of the Napa Valley.

At the helm is winemaker, Michael Silacci who carries on the founders vision by keeping a close eye on all parts of production.

Despite an early bud break, Opus One 2000 Red Blend saw a long, cool growing season, with a harvest extending into late October. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 84%, Merlot 6%, Cabernet Franc 5%, Malbec 3%, and Petit Verdot 2%, this wine is aged for 19 months in new French oak.

Offering aromas of sandalwood, leather, caramel, and a hint of anise this wine is plush with flavors of berries and herbs, the wine is harmonious with sweet tannins and a long, intense finish.
