Opus One was founded in 1984, as a joint venture between Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi (the equivalent of a Biggie and Tupac collaboration). An international success Opus One wines are considered to be among the creme de la creme Bordeaux-style wines.

The duality of both winemakers was and is unified by a singular concept; the pursuit of uncompromising quality. Comprised of four parcels, Opus One vineyards, sit in the western portion of the Napa Valley.

At the helm is winemaker, Michael Silacci who carries on the founders vision by keeping a close eye on all parts of production.

Opus One 2001 Red Blend produced small, concentrated berries A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 87%, Merlot 6%, Malbec 3%, Cabernet Franc 2%, and Petit Verdot 2% this wine is aged for 17 months in new French oak. The result? A supple, creamy wine followed by intense flavors of ripe dark fruit flavors and finishing with lingering savory spice.
